Kinect


A Kinect sensor has been available to use for any projects since November 2011.

The Kinect SDK includes Windows 7 compatible PC drivers for Kinect device. It provides Kinect capabilities to developers to build applications with C++, C# or Visual Basic by using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and includes following features:

  1. Raw sensor streams: Access to low-level streams from the depth sensor, color camera sensor, and four-element microphone array.
  2. Skeletal tracking: The capability to track the skeleton image of one or two people moving within the Kinect field of view for gesture-driven applications.
  3. Advanced audio capabilities: Audio processing capabilities include sophisticated acoustic noise suppression and echo cancellation, beam formation to identify the current sound source, and integration with the Windows speech recognition API.
  4. Sample code and Documentation.

Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 kit

A Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 kit has been available to use for any projects January2011.

Lego Mindstorms NXT is a programmable robotics kit. With LEGO MINDSTORMS you can build and program robots that do what you want! With the contents in the set you get everything you need to build and program your very own intelligent LEGO robot, and make it perform loads of different operations.

Research and Development Laboratory

Soon the Computer Science department will provide a laboratory, where students will be able to conduct research and project teams will meet and collaborate. The RnD laboratory will also serve as a working place of all people involved in robotics projects.

CSSU acquires the most powerful computers available to the students in AUBG. The server will be used for code sharing and project storing in order facilitate the work of the project teams.

Software Resources

Thanks to an agreement with Microsoft, AUBG students can obtain free licenses to a variety of Microsoft products. The MSDN Academic Alliance website is the gateway to these resources and is only available from within the campus network. In order to download the software, you have to obtain an account to use the system. You can ask for an account by writing an email to the OCC Director Latchezar Filchev @ latcho at aubg dot bg.
